Welcome to all Trivia-Cafe players!
Our channel is brand new and many of you have never seen a robot like Hexy before. We thought to give you a few guiding lines and a helping hand along your way.
Connect to Server and Port
Hexy is designed to be very fast and do nothing at all except playing trivia. The very first thing you must do when you come inside Trivia-Cafe is to type the server command.
Type ' !server ' on the main window.
Hexy will give you a string of numbers, looking similar to these:
/server 194.109.20.90 6669 (Diemen.NL.EU.Undernet.Org)
You need the numbers for both the server and and the port.
Using your mouse highlight everything starting with the / slash and up to the brakets.
Paste that into your channel window and you will be connected on the same server/ same port as Hexy.
Right now this may not seem so important, but if things go as we hope, there will be a day when a split second will mean the harsh difference between life or death. For the best possible lag time we strongly recommend that you connect to the server.
Get Faster, demolish those Blue Records
Each hour Hexy gives 2 types of Fast Records - Fast Cps and Fast Reaction.
To get a Fast Reaction Record you need to type faster than 2 seconds.
To get a Fast
Typing Record you need to type faster than 3 cps.
If any other player comes along and types faster than you did, he will break your record and will victimise it.
To see which player currently holds the records, type ' !fast ' on the channel.
At the end of each hour the current record holder receives a trophy of 10 points and his performance is saved for his statistics.
To see how many Fast Records you have type ' !stats ' or, when your personal statistic is not available yet, type ' !pb '.
At the end of the month, Hexy publishes her tops, including the fastest players.
What's the story with all those colors? Why so many questions about them?
Those questions are a special feature of Hexy.
They are there for one reason only - to give you the chance to get Fast Blue Records.
Watch out for colors like : yellow, orange and especially blue and red. These will give you good records.
Slower colors are : brown, cyan, violet or black.
How fast is a fast?
For words like 'Red', 'Blue', 'Yes' - somewhere around 14 cps is very fast. It can get up to 15 cps, but that is rare and depends a lot on your internet connection.
There are other words that can give you a strong record, such as : 'Christian Dior' , 'Russia', 'Asia', 'India', 'What you see is what you get', 'Internet Service Provider', 'Be right back' and so on.
Fast limits: Hexy is set up to give you a kick if you type faster than these values:
Maximum accepted Fast Typing limit : 16 cps
Maximum accepted Fast Reaction limit: 0.75 sec
And what about 'Roger' ? Who is he?
Roger is one of Hexy's favorite features. He is a lovely guy and we hope that soon enough you will start caring about him as much as we do.
If you type the answer to a question faster than 3 cps, Hexy will tell you : 'Roger that! Saving record on question!'
Next time when that particular question is played again, your name and record will be displayed along with the question itself, for everyone to see and for you to feel proud of how wonderful you were.
If another player types the answer to the same question faster than you did, your Roger is deleted and his name replaces yours.
All Rogers are counted and at the end of the month they have their own top.
During the month if you want to see which players hold the most numbers of Rogers, type ' !top Roger '.
If you want to see how many Rogers you've got type either ' !stats ' or ' !pb ' .
PB = personal best
Stats = full statistic about how well you performed the current month. Only available after at least 300 questions have been answered.
Why are you killing us? Tell us more about the Grim Death!
Hexy can be very addictive and in time there will be players who will become very-very fast, making it more difficult for the those who are new to the channel to get any substantial results.
Sudden Death was created to give a helping hand to newbies, players with bad connection problems or simply players who cannot type very fast.
The idea is that Grim Death should strike mostly the players who are already experienced and find themselves very often in the 1-st position. Normally they would be the ones to have to sacrifice, thus giving a small advantage to the less experienced players.
However, please note that Sudden Death is a completely random procedure, and as such, it can go wrong and punish unintended victims.
At certain time intervals Hexy reshuffles her questions.
At this point she randomly sets aside about 1% of the questions, to be used as future 'Sudden Death'-s.
This is the formula for the Death Penalty itself:
The default Death is - 20 points.
50 % of Deaths are Normal Deaths and are applied as default value - 20.
The remaining 50 % are values randomly selected between - 10 and - 30.
The Really Cruel Death would be a penalty of - 30.
The Nicest Death would only take - 10.
To find out which players have been killed most often type ' !top death '.
Lucky as Larry
When Hexy gets to one of the Sudden Deaths questions, there is a 25% chance that the Sudden Death will completely be ignored and not take place at all. In those cases the players are not notified and they escape Death without actually knowing it.
Out of those 25 % blisfully unknowing escapees, a further 1/3 are the really lucky ones. They do not only escape Death, but they also receive a Lucky Strike Trophy for a fixed value of + 13 points.
This is quite a rare prize and we strongly advise you to play the lottery in the same day. You're in luck!
Cat with Nine Lives
This is a fixed reward, more of a consolation prize.
When a player is so good, or so unlucky, or both, to be killed 5 times in a day, he is automatically rewarded a consolation prize of + 50 points.
How many players can get points?
Hexy is designed to have on the channel at least 4 active players at all times.
The first 4 players get points as follows: 3, 2, 1 and 1.
There is also a Charity Prize, for 1 point, given only when there are at least 6 correct answers. In that case, Hexy gives the first 4 players points as above, and chooses a 5-th one, randomly, to whom she awards a special 'Charity Prize' of 1 point.
How long is an Individual Row Bonus?
Because there is the danger that players can get very high scores just by playing alone, with no competition in sight, Hexy is trying to prevent very long rows and high bonuses.
The maximum number of row-answers allowed is 9. Reaching this, Hexy will ask you to be a good Christian and let others play too. She will refuse to give you any more points.
To get around this problem, especially on a brand new channel like Trivia-Caffe, where players are very few, the solution is simple : change your nick for one question, or simply let one question go unanswered.
Your row will start counting again but the bonus will never go higher than 9.
How many Team-Lines can one team make?
To get a Team Line at least 3 players from the same team have to give the correct answer. Depending on their position, and if the line is broken or not, the awards are : 5 points, 10, 15, or 20.
Full Team Line - all 4 first answers must be given from players who are part of the same team: 20 points.
The maximum number of Bonus Team Lines is 5.
When this number is reached Hexy will stop awarding the bonus for the next 30 min.
The lines will still be counted and saved in the team statistics but no bonus will be given until half an hour has passed.

What type of fights are available? How can I get all bloody?
There are 3 different types of Cappuccino-Wars.
1. ) War between 2 teams : trophy 10 - 100 points
2. ) War between 2 individual players :
a) Best Next bet - 5 points trophy
b) Complete War - 10 - 100 points
3.) Total Apocallypse - the whole room is at war. This is the Grand Prix challenge and the Trophy is comprised by a variable number of points and a Funny Confession.

Questions Data-Base
Right now Hexy only plays about half of her questions. Most of them are 'standard trivia-questions' especially chosen to give 'Trivia-Caffe' players a chance to get used with both the robot, and the questions.
The number of questions currently playing is around 4000.
In normal conditions this number never goes higher than 10.000
Hexy's questions data-base (when played in full), helps to set her further apart from any other robot, but more about this when the time comes.
Daily - Monthly Reset
Hexy resets her Daily Top at 12 UK midnight. The first 5 players of the day are awarded bonuses.
(in order for the Daily Reset to take place Hexy must be active and the game must be on).
Last day of each month 12 midnight UK time Hexy resets her scores and publishes the rankings.
Hexy Etiquette
Avoid giving any commands while a question is still being answered.
Commands like ' !server ' , ' !top death ' , ' !target ' , ' !hunter ', and so on, should normally be given only during the time allocated between the questions.
Typing the answer after another player has correctly given it, is normally allowed, (unless specific conditions are taking place). Please do not use copy-paste though, try to type the answer yourself. |
