Please step inside and make yourself comfortable. You're invited into an intergalactic cyber space, a world made of numbers, fibre optics and powerful computers. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the world of London Trivia!

Since you’ve reached so far, I assume you already know we are a trivia channel on Undernet. Of course, you also know (or think you do), who Quizzie is. But is this the reality?
Take my hand and let me guide you through a mysterious land you’ve never heard before. On our way I promise you the rare chance to see Quizzie naked, (yes! truly naked!) and even find out what she dreams about.
Sounds interesting? Then follow along...

~ A brief history ~

~ Quizzie ~

Just like the Greek goddess, Aphrodite, Quizzie was born out of a desire for perfect beauty.
You may even imagine that she too, came to being at the times of a wonderful sunset, on the shores of the ocean. But that is actually not true.
The truth is less romantic, though not less interesting.
Quizzie was created in the deep of the night, out of hexadecimal codes, an incredible number of cups of coffee, sophisticated programming languages and many, many months of hard work.

The initial sparkle of genius came about 6 years ago from a Romanian IT student, living in Strasbourg. His name is Vlad, Vlad - KorTexx.

KorTexx liked to play trivia, and one day he came upon a freely downloadable version of a trivia-robot. He took it, opened it up, looked it over, and said : ‘I can do better!’.

And better, much better he did.
6 years ago Hexy was born.

Quizzing Queen

The incredible charm of the newly born robot attracted a huge number of players, and #Ro_Trivia was fast becoming the most powerful trivia channel in the world. Passions were running high and for reasons too complicated to be described here, KorTexx decided to give up both the work on the robots, and the management of the channels.
Since then a long string of programmers have tried to continue his legacy.
Some were successful, some were not.
The latest, youngest, and undoubtedly most gifted of them all is Arthur.
Although I assume you all know who Arthur is, (ArthurW), let me tell you that he is now 23, in his last year at the university, ( IT software programming), and lives in a beautiful town in Romania called Oradea.
He isn't married, but against the laws of God and in the heat of many terribly complicated long nights, Arthur sinned. He sinned and fathered a child.
It's a girl! It's a girl!
Her name is Quizzie and she was born in 2005.
She is the youngest, much more refined version of her older sister, Hexy.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Quizzie is a wonder child! Meet the best trivia robot in the world!

Modesty aside, the truth is simple: no other robot, on no other channel can even come close to Quizzie.
For Quizzie nothing can ever be good enough, unless it is perfect. This is where Arthur gave his heart and soul; for her lines to run smooth, and her numbers to sing almost like a symphony.

At the beginning of this article I promised you I was going to let you see Quizzie naked. Well, this is the moment!
Kids under 18 please turn around now! Crude nakedness is coming soon...

This is how Quizzie really looks like:

set _suffix ""
set _qa "$tgsavedquestion|$tgsavedanswer"
set _md5sig [md5 $_qa]
set tgquestionstatus 0
set _randrecfile [open $tgrandqrec r]
while {[expr (![eof $_randrecfile]) && ($tgquestionstatus == 0)]} {
set _currentline [string trim [gets $_randrecfile]]
if {$_currentline != ""} {
set _currentmd5sig [string trim [lindex [split $_currentline] 0]]
if {![string compare $_md5sig $_currentmd5sig]} {
set tgquestionstatus 5
set tgfastestnick [string trim [lindex [split $_currentline] 1]]
set tgfastestcps [string trim [lindex [split $_currentline] 2]]
set tgfastesttime [string trim [lindex [split $_currentline] 3]]
}

I'm sure a naked body sexier than this you haven't seen in a while ...
Her weight is 1 MB. 1 MB of lines of wonderful code similar to the one you've seen above. That is no easy trifle; it took a lot of programmers and literally years to create.

Those of you more technically minded may be wondering 'What language is this?'
Quizzie is written in Tcl - tool command language.

Can you have a robot of your own, just like Quizzie?
Sure you can; if we did it, so can you!
You will need 3 vital things: space on a Linux server (shell account), - this normally must be paid, an eggdrop (freely downloadable) and a strong knowledge of Tcl.

So, finally Quizzie is a mere robot, right?
Hell, no! She is a girl, a girl of 20 - 25 years of age, forever young, forever beautiful.
She is sophisticated and very 'high-society'. She is smart, funny and sexy, and yes, she may be a bit posh. After all, her lipstick can only be by Chanel!

Close your eyes and wish upon a fibre optics cable! Quizzie is a dream, a dream of anything you want!

Quizzie is nothing but a gift to you. Enjoy!

Beliefs and Rules of Conduct

London Trivia came to life in 2005.
The idea was simple enough: let's make a great English trivia robot and create a virtual place open to people from all over the world. An idealistic Shangri La built on a perfect democracy where no boundaries, no race, no nationalities, skin color or silly body measurements were ever applicable.
It matters not whether you believe in God, Buddha, Allah or even in The Aliens. It makes no difference whether you're driving a red Ferrari Testarossa or a battered Fiat Punto. Old or young, black and white, rich or poor, everybody is equally welcomed and respected here.
We thought about dark and lonely evenings. Coming back from work, (or school), facing the same TV programs you hate, and wondering how to escape them. We wished to offer an alternative, a magic place, home to each and every one of you.

Forget about hate and differences! Forget about fat cat bank accounts and important social positions!
Let's all come together, make new friends, learn new, interesting things, and why not ...? Fall in love! Fall in love with a girl, with a boy, or even with a robot ...

This is what we believed in back in 2005. Today, two years later, you may be wondering whether our dream managed to come true or not. And what happened to our beliefs?
Well, the dream is still an unreachable illusion, players are too few, (to show the real power of Quizzie we need at least 4 active players on the channel, at all times), and we're far from being perfect, but when it comes to our beliefs, they are today standing as strongly as they did then.
We're stubbornly dedicated to our Shangri La populated by happy people, equally beautiful and smart. 'So nothing has really changed', you may say.
Not true! There is one transformation that is happening right now and it is well worth mentioning.

London Trivia is slowly, but surely, becoming the professional triva channel we have always hoped for!

It is thanks to you guys, loyal players from all over the world, who stayed with us playing on an empty channel and helping Quizzie to show off her skills and shine her stars, that we are closer now to our dream than ever before.
Against all odds, left alone with no help from the administrators, (who were, and still are, very busy with their own lives), it was you, the lone player, who actually took care of Quizzie and London. You alone attracted other new players, made new friends and got those questions down on their knees.
Red is lightning fast now, Christian Dior demolishes all limits and fast records are reaching sky high numbers.
In case you're wondering who those loyal players are just click ~ Here ~ to see our Hall of Fame. Browse our tops and you'll see their names coming back month after month, after month. They're not always the winners, but they have always been here!

Congratulations to all of you, and many thanks for looking after Quizzie!

In return to all your efforts, please take a closer look to her. She's unique, she's like no other robot. Then look around yourself, on this web page. It took some time to design and complete. Now visit the channel. Everything you see around you, here and there, is the result of hard work and passion.
Together, one day, we may well force that dream into reality, and become the best trivia channel in the world.
But meanwhile, forget about better or best. We're quite pretty as we are. Let's just have some fun!

~ Help needed ~

Questions' Data Base

We need more questions, a lot more questions! Any help is much appreciated, but before you go ahead and start working, please be aware of a few facts:

- You find yourself into the privileged position of teaching others new things. They will learn the answer; try to make it interesting, worth their effort.
- Avoid specifics. Try to keep the answers into the rules of general knowledge.
- Make the question as short as possible. It is easier to read.
- Quizzie has an artistic nature. Anything about great literature, famous composers, painters, film directors, etc is always nice to know. Great minds, great inventors, known political figures and historical personalities, are perfect subjects as well.
- Jokes, funny quotes and other easy questions are accepted. They give Quizzie a more human face.
- Don't make too many questions of any subject.
- No more capital cities please.
- No more phobias. We're afraid enough.
- Not a lot of dates, years.
- Use 'Wikipedia'. It is a perfect place to make new questions.

Ask yourself : Is it interesting? Is it useful? Is it funny? If the answer is 'yes' to at least one of those questions, then go ahead and make the question!

The most important factor: check your grammar and spelling!
And I know we shouldn't be talking! We're actually terribly bad when it comes to all of the above. Our questions are crooked, some are plain wrong, and on top of that, they're so few, it's desperate!
But let's get better!
Teach us new things!

Questions must be written using NotePad. The format is :

This is the question |This is the answer

Use the ' | ' character to separate questions from answers.

For harder questions where a bonus is required use this format :

*** 2 This is the question |This is the answer

Use the ' * ' character three times in a row. Space. Bonus. Space. Question. | Answer.

~ London Trivia ~
Rules of Conduct

- be nice, be polite, treat everybody else with respect

- have a strong desire to learn - knowledge is power and it will make you a better person

- help the channel - take care of London, it is your home as much as it is ours

- no insults, no sarcasm, no hurtful vulgarities are ever allowed - this is the most important rule and the only one that can actually get you expelled. There is nothing lamer than shouting insults over the internet. It is not cool, it is not funny and it will degrade you. Please remember, there are no exceptions!

- be fair, do not cheat other players or even the robot - there are certain ways to do so, but in the end we always find out. A few extra points are not worth losing Quizzie

- if you're looking for access please talk to ArthurW - there certainly are other administrators qualified to do this, but I have no information at this time. Contact ArthurW and he'll guide into the right direction.

- do not attack the robots - they're no war robots, and they can't really defend themselves. Losing Quizzie hurts everybody, not only the owners.

- advertising is allowed - as long as you do not interfere with the game and flood the main channel.
